Rici Belion Brings Red Roses to Black Tie at LAAM Fashion Week

The red rose is an unexpected companion to the disciplined lines of a tuxedo. In Rici Belion’s introduction, however, that romantic detail became an expressive counterpoint to the precision of traditional eveningwear.
Unveiled by Rici Melion at the LFW Designer Showcase during LAAM Fashion Week, the new label embraced the established vocabulary of black-tie dressing while introducing a distinctly cinematic mood. Sharp tuxedos formed the collection’s foundation, their sculpted shawl lapels lending definition and architectural clarity to otherwise familiar formal silhouettes.
Velvet contributed another dimension. Its rich, tactile character softened the visual severity of structured tailoring, bringing depth to garments whose appeal depended on proportion and finish rather than elaborate ornamentation. Against this controlled composition, red roses introduced a striking element of colour and romance, lending the collection a theatrical quality without overwhelming its formal foundations.
What distinguished the presentation was its commitment to the recognisable codes of menswear. Rather than departing from traditional evening attire, Melion concentrated on the elements that make it compelling: the contour of a lapel, the richness of a fabric and the expressive potential of a carefully considered detail.
Rici Belion approached black-tie dressing as an exercise in visual character, allowing the tuxedo to retain its familiar authority while giving it the atmosphere of a cinematic portrait.
