From Fuchsia to Ivory, Abaan Zohan Explores the Full Colour Spectrum of Pakistani Festive Wear

In Abaan Zohan’s festive collection, the eye was drawn to the edges. Gota and zari borders gave familiar occasion-wear silhouettes a distinct outline, allowing traditional embellishment to become a defining visual element rather than simply a decorative addition.
Presented on the LFW Retail Runway at LAAM Fashion Week, the collection drew upon a recognisable vocabulary of Pakistani formal dressing: classic silhouettes, flowing dupattas and ornamentation that emphasised the garments’ traditional character. The approach was particularly evident in the treatment of colour, where fuchsia, emerald and maroon introduced richness and intensity, while ivory, mauve and marigold offered a softer register.
The breadth of the palette gave the collection considerable visual variety without departing from its established design language. Gota and zari provided a recurring decorative element, connecting garments across different colour combinations and reinforcing the importance of surface craftsmanship in South Asian occasion wear.
Flowing dupattas introduced movement alongside the more deliberate lines of the embellished borders. Together, these elements established a relationship between fluidity and ornament, two familiar characteristics of traditional festive dressing.
What distinguished Abaan Zohan’s presentation was its willingness to retain those familiar codes without treating them as limitations. Rather than seeking novelty through unfamiliar silhouettes, the collection placed emphasis on the details that continue to give Pakistani formalwear its distinctive identity.
